🗺️
Start your adventure with a morning pickup from Moshi or Arusha and drive to the Rongai Gate on the northern side of Kilimanjaro. Complete park registration and meet your guides and porters. Begin trekking through cultivated farmland and into beautiful rainforest trails. Arrive at Simba Camp for dinner and overnight camping.
Continue trekking through gentle slopes and open moorland. Enjoy views of Mawenzi as your trail takes you further into high-altitude terrain. Arrive at Second Cave Camp for lunch, acclimatization walks, and overnight stay. Dinner will be served at camp.
Trek across moorland and alpine desert while approaching the eastern side of Kibo. The terrain becomes more rugged with fewer plants. Arrive at Third Cave Camp for lunch, rest, and acclimatization. This camp is quieter and offers a great view of the mountain’s upper slopes.
Begin your trek toward the saddle connecting Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The path crosses wide alpine desert with stunning views of both peaks. Reach Kibo Hut, your base camp for the summit attempt. Rest early and prepare for the midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak.
Wake at midnight and begin the challenging climb through steep scree leading to the crater rim. Arrive at Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa, just in time for sunrise and breathtaking views. After celebrations and photos, descend back to Kibo Hut for rest and lunch. Continue descending to Horombo Hut for your final overnight.
Descend through the rainforest zone toward Marangu Gate. Collect your well-earned summit certificates before transferring back to Moshi or Arusha. End the journey with amazing memories of the northern Rongai Route.
