🗺️
Start your adventure with a morning pickup from Moshi or Arusha. Travel to Marangu Gate to complete registration and meet your professional guides, porters, and support team. Receive a briefing about safety, trek tips, and itinerary overview. Begin the trek through the rainforest, enjoying waterfalls, giant ferns, and endemic birds. Reach Mandara Hut for your first overnight stay, dinner, and rest.
After breakfast, continue ascending through lush rainforest. Transition from dense forest to moorland landscapes with giant heathers and unique flora. The trail gradually opens to scenic views of Kilimanjaro’s slopes and surrounding plains. Arrive at Horombo Hut in the late afternoon, enjoy dinner, and spend the night acclimatizing for the higher altitudes ahead.
Use this day for acclimatization to improve summit success. Explore the surrounding areas on short hikes, enjoying views of the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Hike to nearby points of interest or practice pacing at higher altitudes. Return to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight stay. This day reduces altitude sickness risk and allows for a gradual ascent.
Begin early after breakfast and ascend through alpine desert terrain. The landscape becomes rocky and sparse, with dramatic views of Kibo peak. Stop for acclimatization breaks, photos, and observation of unique high-altitude flora. Arrive at Kibo Hut in the late afternoon. Prepare for the summit attempt with a light dinner and early rest.
Start the summit hike around midnight to maximize sunrise views. Climb steep scree slopes in cold conditions, following your guides’ pacing and instructions. Reach the crater rim and continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). Celebrate your achievement with panoramic views of glaciers and surrounding landscapes. Descend to Kibo Hut for breakfast, then continue down to Horombo Hut for rest and dinner, recovering from the challenging climb.
After breakfast, continue your descent through alpine desert, moorland, and rainforest back to Marangu Gate. Complete your trek and receive your summit certificates. Transfer back to Moshi or Arusha, reflecting on the adventure and celebrating the successful climb.
