🗺️
Begin your journey with a pickup from Moshi or Arusha. Travel to Marangu Gate, the starting point of your climb. Meet your guides, porters, and support team, complete registration, and attend a briefing about the trek and safety guidelines. Start hiking through lush rainforest with waterfalls, endemic plants, and birdlife, gradually ascending to Mandara Hut for your first overnight stay. Enjoy dinner, acclimatization, and rest in the hut.
After breakfast, continue the trek through dense forest, encountering giant heathers, mosses, and unique wildlife along the trail. Ascend gradually, transitioning from forest to open moorland. The landscape opens up to panoramic views of Kilimanjaro’s slopes and the surrounding plains. Arrive at Horombo Hut in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight are provided in the comfortable hut, allowing for proper acclimatization.
Start early after breakfast and continue the ascent through alpine desert terrain, characterized by rocky landscapes, sparse vegetation, and spectacular views of the Kibo peak. Stop for acclimatization breaks and enjoy the scenery. Reach Kibo Hut in the late afternoon. Rest and prepare for the summit attempt, with a light dinner and early bedtime to ensure adequate energy for the overnight climb.
Begin the summit hike around midnight to maximize your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise. The climb involves steep scree slopes, cold temperatures, and low oxygen, requiring determination and pacing. Reach the crater rim and continue to the summit at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). Celebrate your achievement and take in panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. Descend to Kibo Hut for rest and breakfast, then continue down to Horombo Hut for overnight stay, recovering from the challenging ascent.
After breakfast, continue the descent through alpine desert and moorland, passing giant heathers and unique flora. Re-enter the rainforest before reaching Marangu Gate. Complete your trek, receive your summit certificates, and transfer back to Moshi or Arusha. Reflect on the journey and celebrate the successful climb of Africa’s highest peak.
