🗺️
Your journey begins with a morning pickup from Arusha or Moshi, followed by a scenic drive to Momella Gate for registration and a briefing with your guide. Start trekking through lush rainforest filled with towering trees, ferns, waterfalls, and diverse bird species. Encounter wildlife such as Colobus monkeys and bushbucks along the trail. Ascend steadily through the lower slopes to reach Miriakamba Hut for your first overnight stay. Enjoy dinner, settle into your tent or hut, and rest to prepare for the higher altitude trekking ahead.
Continue trekking through montane forest and enter moorland terrain adorned with giant heathers, lobelias, and alpine grasses. The trail offers sweeping vistas of valleys, crater walls, and distant peaks. Arrive at Saddle Hut, located near the saddle point between Mount Meru’s peaks. Take optional acclimatization walks to nearby ridges for panoramic photography opportunities. Dinner and overnight at Saddle Hut allow your body to adapt to higher altitudes while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Begin the summit climb early in the morning, typically around midnight or pre-dawn. Ascend through rocky alpine terrain toward Point Lenana, Mount Meru’s highest accessible peak at 4,566 meters (14,980 feet). Witness a stunning sunrise over the Arusha National Park, Kilimanjaro, and the expansive plains below. After reaching the summit, take time to enjoy the panoramic views, celebrate your achievement, and take photographs. Descend back to Saddle Hut for rest, lunch, and relaxation. The descent gives trekkers a chance to reflect on the experience and recover from the challenging summit.
Complete the descent through moorland and montane forest back to Miriakamba Hut, stopping along the way for scenic breaks and wildlife observation. Continue through lush rainforest to Momella Gate for final registration and to collect summit certificates. Transfer back to Arusha or Moshi, reflecting on the adventure, diverse landscapes, and memorable summit achievement.
